In the mood for a good olde English poem about a warrior and some monsters? Actor John Heimbuch will be doing a one-person performance of “Beowulf!” streaming live at 8 p.m. March 26 and 28, April 2 and 4; and 2 p.m. March 29 and April 5.

This version of “Beowulf” was written by Charlie Bethel and was a big hit at the 2019 Minnesota Fringe, where it was also performed by Heimbuch, co-artistic director of Walking Shadow Theatre. Amy Rummenie, also a co-artistic director at Walking Shadow, will direct. The performance will be streamed on Walking Shadow’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/WalkingShadowCompany

A Walking Shadow news release says Bethel’s “Beowulf” is “a faithful and accessible adaptation of the classic Old English poem about a warrior king and some famous monsters, modernizing the wit, vigor, and meaty language of the original Anglo-Saxon epic.” It’s recommended for ages 10 and older because it “contains vivid descriptions of physical human/monster violence comparable to ‘Star Wars’ or ‘Lord of the Rings.’ ”
