John Heimbuch's plays have been produced by Walking Shadow Theatre Company, Hardcover Theater, The Young Mirror Repertory Company, Plays & Players Theatre, The Minnesota Fringe Festival, The Midtown International Theatre Festival, Civic Stage and the Southern Theatre, among others.  John's work has been seen onstage in Minneapolis, New York, Philadelphia, and London.  His full-length plays include WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S LAND OF THE DEAD, 10-SPEED REVOLUTION, THE LIVES OF THE MOST NOTORIOUS HIGHWAYMEN, OR THE WHITE WHALE, SQUAWK, and the LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT series.

John has acted with Walking Shadow Theatre Company, the Illusion Theatre, Frank Theatre, Starting Gate Productions, Off-Leash Area, Shakespeare in the Park, Live Action Set and the National Theatre for Children.  He has taught theatre classes and workshops for SteppingStone Theatre for Youth Development, Upstage Musical Theatre Workshop, and the Perpich Center for Arts Education.  John is an alumnus of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab 2007, Minnesota State University Mankato and the Perpich Center for Arts Education.

John is the Co-Artistic Director of Walking Shadow Theatre Company in Minneapolis. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he has also directed their productions of Naomi Iizuka's 36 VIEWS and Jeffrey Jones' SEVENTY SCENES OF HALLOWEEN.
